The Roosevelt Rotary Club held its first casino night fundraising event this weekend to a packed house.
Players pitted themselves against the house in such games of blackjack, poker and roulette. No money actually changed hands, and the gambling was all in good fun.
The entry fee covered casino chips for players to use and raffle tickets for different prizes donated by sponsors Paragon Oilfield Products, Despain Enterprises, Spot On Dance, Snowy River Transportation, Refresh Aesthetics and Century 21 Country Realty.
The dinner, catered by The Barefoot Baker, was sponsored by Murray Motors, Tomlinson Dental, C&H Distributing, and Lynn and Janet Snow.
According to Nate Snow, funds raised will benefit the many different projects the Rotary Club performs for the community, such as purchasing laptops and tablets for local schools, beautification projects in Duchesne County, and the annual Enchanted Forest which has been run by the Rotary Club since 2011, to name a few.
The Roosevelt Rotary Club was started in Duchesne County in 2009. An international organization, the Rotary Club is present in over 160 countries throughout the world. Its stated mission is to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders”.
Snow stated that the club hopes to raise between $5,000 and $6,000, after expenses. He also wanted to thank the Vernal Rotary Club for the gaming tables and helping run the event.
