UBTech students show off skills

More than 125 UBTech students are displaying their skills at the first UBTech Skills Showcase.
The purpose of the showcase is for students to compete or participate in an activity to show the possibilities of technical education. The day will include skills competitions and hands-on demonstrations.
UBTech has many different programs for technical education that span an incredibly wide range of industries. From healthcare and culinary professions to a variety of construction and automotive-related professions, UBTech has a program for nearly any interest.
At the skills showcase students will participate or compete in categories related to the many programs that UBTech offers like construction, plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, welding, fabrication, automotive, diesel, IT, and culinary.
During the showcase, health profession programs will be hosting an open house for anyone interested in learning about a career in nursing, medical assisting, pharmacy technician and surgical technician.
This event is open to the public so that all can have the opportunity to see the UBTech students in action. Stephanie Carter, Vice President of Public Affairs and Student Advancement said she’s excited for the public to see what their students can do.
“We hope everyone can take the time to come and see our students in action,” said Carter.
Employers and businesses have also been given an open invite to have a booth to display company or product information, or to promote careers and job openings. UBTech says it is also grateful to the many businesses in the Uintah Basin who have donated their time, prizes, equipment and supplies in support of this event and the students at UBTech.
Competitions and activities will begin at 9 a.m. at the Roosevelt UBTech campus and will complete by 7 p.m. The health professions open house will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
