August 8, 1953 to January 22, 2023

Leon Morris, age 69, of Vernal, Utah, died Jan. 22, 2023, at the Ashley Valley Regional Medical Center in Vernal, Utah.

He was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Roosevelt, Utah, to LaVor Leon and Bernice Elouise Hackford Morris. He married Gene Marie “Tiny” Christensen on April 27, 1973, in Ft. Duchesne, Utah.

Leon worked for many years as an oilfield construction welder, a roustabout, a worker for Vernal City, and a Cowboy for the Ute Tribe Cattle Enterprise. He really enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and anything to do with his horses. He loved spending time with his grandsons.

Leon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tiny Morris; a daughter, Magen (Thomas) Escalanti, Myton, Utah; grandchildren, Tyson Cesspooch , Nick Valdez; brothers and sisters, Marie (John) Sadlier, Harold Morris, Caroline (John) Woods, Vickie (Guy) Litster; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Stacy and Jamie Morris; parents; and his brothers, Roger, Vern, LeRoy, and Michael Morris; and his favorite dog, “Bear.”

Services were on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at the Hullinger Mortuary.

Burial in the Altonah Cemetery.
