This week in History 6/22/1950“Bookcliff fire ravages 2,000 acres”Nearly 2,000 acres of charred stumps and earth with spot fires still burning and danger that a high wind will start anew a raging fire -- that’s the picture in Bookclifff mountain where 50 local men have been battling flames, swept to greater fury by a 30 to 40 mile per hour wind since Tuesday, June 13.

“Foreign license plates ‘out’ after June 15”All persons living and working in the Uintah Basin must have a Utah license plates and driver’s licenses by June 15 or citations will be issued, according to Sammy Hatch, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper.He added that license plates may be obtained Wednesday and Thursday at the Uintah County court house, Vernal, and driver’s licenses can be obtained at the same place all day Friday and Saturday till noon.
