Malone, Bolton, Glenn selected for first-team all-region

Uintah’s Alaya Malone began the soccer season in a three-way battle for the starting goalie position on her squad.The senior locked down the spot after the preseason.She continued to make headlines throughout Region 8 play, setting a new school record with seven shutouts in one year.Malone was recognized as the region’s Outstanding Goalkeeper voted on by the coaches.“That is a really big award for her, considering some of the goalkeepers we have in our region,” Uintah coach Jimmy Glenn said.

Jenkins wins 3A state cross country race, while White finishes right behind

Union’s Jaylie Jenkins and River White have been the best duo in Class 3A state cross country.It was only fitting the individual state race was a photo finish between the two teammates at Sugar House Park.Jenkins won her first cross country championship by crossing the finish line with a time of 17 minutes and 48 seconds.74 seconds.White was timed at 17:48.83.It was the tightest finish of all the state meets.“It was a really close,” Jenkins said.
