Roosevelt City Manager Josh Bake started to develop a passion for running to lose weight and be healthier.He has accomplished those goals.Bake recently completed the Dino Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in Vernal.He is now preparing to run his second Utah Valley Marathon (26.2 miles) June 1 .“I ran a full marathon about four years ago and I didn’t enjoy it at all,” Bake said.
Altamont’s Grayson Panas blocked out the pressure of throwing in front of a big crowd to reach the top of the podium stand at the Class 1A state track and field meet at BYU in Provo.The senior claimed the shot put title with a throw of 46 feet and 3.5 inches.“It felt really good because I have been trying for years to win it,” Panas said.

Vernal’s Tony Sheffer had a once-in-a-lifetime experience when he flew in a medical helicopter where he stepped out to a loud applause at Coach Belcher Stadium.He started the torch run for the Special Olympics track and field games May 16.Sheffer found out the day before he was selected for the honor.“He is really excited,” his mom, Joan Sheffer said.
The Union girls finished fourth at the Class 3A state golf tournament and were led by Brooklyn Brown.
