Uintah Basin’s Josh Frost, Rhen Richard and Dean Thompson performed against other elite cowboys during the National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.The NFR showcases the talents of the PRCA’s top 15 money in the season for each event.Cowboys and barrel racers had the opportunity to perform in 10 rounds on 10 consecutive days.The participants earn money by placing first through sixth in any round.

The Duchesne High School girls basketball team finished the first part of the season with a pivotal 45-33 home victory over Tabiona.
The Uintah High School girls wrestling team had enough depth in its lineup to win the Christmas Clash title.
Records continue to be broken by the Union High School boys and girls swim team.The times were posted at the Mel Roberts Invitational in TooeleUnion’s 200-yard medley relay made up of Sienna Scholes, Emery Lachance, Stephanie Winn and Kennedy Freston lowered the record to 2:08.17.Scholes broke the 200-yard freestyle record with a time of 2:11.63.Union’s Boston Bennett broke the 100-yard freestyle record in 48.88.The Cougars finished second in the 13-team field with 247 points.
Union produced eight 3-pointers on its way to a 63-54 victory over the Duchesne boys basketball team in Roosevelt.The win lifted the Cougars to 4-8 on the season.“It was a great team win,” Union coach Dillon Gilpin said.
Duchesne’s Parker Crum has been one of the elite quarterbacks in the state the last couple of years.
