Webb, Jessen make 1A 8-player first-team all-state

Altamont put in a successful 1A 8-player football season by reaching the state semifinal contest.The Longhorns were rewarded with two players making the first-team all-state squad.Brayden Webb and Gavin Jessen represented Altamont on the list.The Deseret News all-state teams are based on coaches’ votes from a list of nominated players from each team.“I think that it’s great that we had people recognized,” Altamont coach Charles Woodhouse said.

Union swimmers break relay records

Union shattered new school records in the girls and boys 200-yard medley relays during a swimming dual with Carbon in Roosevelt.The foursome of Sienna Scholes, Emery Lachance, Stephanie Winn and Kennedy Freston were clocked with a time of 2:09.02.“They did awesome in the race,” Union coach Justin Schmitt said.

Lady Eagles off to fast start

A 6-1 start by the Duchesne High School girls basketball team has been generated from some strong defensive efforts.The Lady Eagles have turned into one of the better teams in 2A with the ability to hold their opponents under 40 points.“We are really excited about how the girls are playing,” Duchesne coach Kyle Grant said.
