According to Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office an active homicide investigation is underway.

“On September 22, 2024 Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a family fight in Northwest Duchesne County that involved the discharge of a firearm.”

According to the detectives and deputies responding, one male juvenile was found outside of the residence, and the brother juvenile male was found inside.

The young man inside the home was found to be deceased at the hands of his brother. There were no other family members home at time of the events that occurred in the incident.

“One male juvenile was taken into custody, and transported to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning,” leading to his being taken into custody at the youth facility. Youth names will not be released due to the ages of the two young men. The case is currently being investigated as a homicide.

The news release was quick to express condolences for the loss, and the nature of the investigation. Loss of ones in youth is especially difficult. Resources will be shared with the family to help with the difficult times ahead.
