Proposals that were previously made by Ken Campbell the Vernal Regional Airport manager that have been approved have been completed.
These proposals were to create three new taxi lanes at the airport. Utilities that run to taxi lane delta were not completed when the other project was finished.
They later asked for help from the county to apply for the Utah Rural Communities Opportunity Grant which was approved. The grant has been received for $250,000 with an additional $150,000 being put in by Vernal City giving a total of $400,000.
This grant money will allow the airport to put in all the utilities from where they currently are and extend them to the Delta taxi lane.
“A local corporation has agreed to build a hanger which will help us out as well as put us on the map for a corporate hanger,” said Ken Campbell.
The county made a motion to accept the grant for $250,000 which passed unanimously. The airport has recently announced flights to Denver are available.
“I am happy to announce that we now have an interline connection with United Airlines out of Denver, that will allow us to fly Contour Airlines back to Denver like we used to and go anywhere United Airlines flies,” said Ken Campbell.
Ken has been working on another interline connection with a third airline that they believe would be out of both Phoenix and Denver.
