Wilma Blanchard

Wilma Ruth Warren Blanchard, age 97, of Roosevelt, Utah, returned to her heavenly home on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2023, to be with her sweetheart.

Wilma was born June 7, 1925, to Harold and Alice Warren in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She was the oldest of seven children. She was raised in Bluebell, Utah. In 1942, at the age of 17, Wilma met Carl Victor Blanchard. After dating for a short time, they were married on Oct. 25, 1942. Wilma and Carl’s marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1964.

Wilma loved her family. She was always so kind and loving. Everyone loved going to grandmas, where she would make pink play-doh, sing silly songs and play fun games. She was an avid Utah JAZZ fan, and loved gardening and flowers, and always made sure the hummingbirds had food. She was talented in crochet and made many beautiful afghans. You never left grandma’s house hungry as she would offer you anything off her shelves. Her fridge was always stocked with soda and popsicles for visitors. She was a wonderful cook. Her chocolate cake and homemade bread were legendary. She never prepared a bad meal, yet she would always warn “I’m not even sure it’s edible!” Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she would never go more than a few days without contacting each of them. Wilma always had a positive attitude and never went anywhere without her red lipstick. She loved her little dog Remy, who was a constant companion to her after grandpa’s passing.

She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings and as a worker in the Provo and Vernal Temples.

She is survived by her children, Warren C. (Linda) Blanchard, Dutch John; Ed Kay (Deb) Blanchard, Roosevelt; Hal Ray (Sherry) Blanchard, Roosevelt; Kim Dwane (Mary) Blanchard, Montwell; 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Victor Blanchard; granddaughter, Tracy Ann Blanchard; and sisters, Larue Jensen and Connie Hacking.

Services for Wilma were Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at the Roosevelt 2nd & 11th Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Bluebell Cemetery.
