Darius Ben Poowegup, age 32, of Whiterocks, died in Mesquite, Nevada, on Jan. 12, 2023.

He was born Feb. 4, 1990, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Anthony Ben Poowegup and Raylayne Checora. He was raised by his grandmother, Frances Poowegup. He was married to Arianna Kurip, and later divorced.

Darius was fun, adventurous, stubborn, and daring. He was kind and forgiving. He had a great personality, made others laugh and was known for his big smile. He was a wonderful artist.

He is survived by his parents, Anthony B. Poowegup and Raylayne Checora; children, Aveah Caie, Caley Evening Star, Breanna Blue Sky, Boyson, and Evanjolen Poowegup; siblings, Eagle Plume (Emerson) Poowegup; Ernest Chavez; Christopher, Xavier, Jeremiah, Tera Lov, and Franklin Taveapont Jr.; Tiffany Taveapont (Lon) Hackford; grandparents, Frances Poowegup, Georgina Ridley, JoAnn Lucero, Deanna Poowegup, Joline and Richard Poowegup, Nancy Reed, Valerie Tom, Paulette Tom, Jonas Grant; friends, Landon and Natalie Shurtleff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Orderico and Glenn Tindoy; Jonah, Eli and Jonas Poowegup; and uncle, Albert Poowegup.

Services were on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Whiterocks Community Building.

Burial in the John Harmes Cemetery.
