June 2, 1948 to January 30, 2023

Lloyd Carl Arrowchis Sr., age 74, died peacefully, at Uintah Basin Medical Center, in Roosevelt, Utah, on Jan. 30, 2023.
He was born June 2, 1948, in Roosevelt, Utah, to Bishop and Dorothy Arrowchis. He graduated from Union High School and attended and graduated from the Intermountain Police Academy, in Brigham City, Utah, with high honors and with the highest accumulated score of 99.9 in firearms. This score was the highest score ever attained at the academy which stood for many years.
Lloyd married Delores LaRose, and they raised 12 children. They have 46 grandkids and 81 great-grandkids and three great-great-grandkids.
He was an excellent hunter. He taught his daughters how to hunt from the time they were babies and then he taught his grandkids and great-grandkids. Some of their greatest memories came from hunting alongside him. He had an appreciation and love for the outdoors and nature.
Lloyd started out as a police officer and was later promoted to Chief of Police for the Ute Indian Tribe. Lloyd had a good working relationship with all the surrounding law enforcement agencies, Uintah and Duchesne Counties; Vernal and Roosevelt Cities and the Utah Highway Patrol.
He is survived by his siblings, Frank (Glenda) Arrowchis, Smiley Arrowchis, May Marie Zahne; his children, Percel Cesspooch, Kesley LaRose, Keith Blackhair, Anson Manning, Stephenie Cuch, Deloy Arrowchis, Mandi Mills and Carol Ann Holgate.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Joyce Elaine Murdock, Beverly Jean Arrowchis, Michael Arrowchis, Lina Marie; his children, Ted, Lance and Marla Manning; Lloyd Carl Arrowchis Jr.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral mass was on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the St. Helen’s Catholic Church.
Burial in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
