September 21, 1937 to March 3, 2023

Calvin C. Hackford, age 85, of Whiterocks, Utah, died March 3, 2023, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1937, in his family’s home in Lapoint, Utah, to George and Sarah Van Hackford. He married Louise S. Davis on June 22, 1955, in West Covina, California.

Calvin was a cattle rancher all of his life. He went to the 7th grade and then had to quit so he could go to work. He enjoyed playing cards, B.S.ing with the boys, spending time with the family, and loved drinking coffee – he used the same cup since anyone can remember. He was proud of his Native American Heritage and spoke often about it.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise, of Whiterocks, Utah; LaVae Hackford-Dye, Cedarview, Utah; Shawn D. Hackford, Whiterocks, Utah; grandchildren, Natasha (Patrick) Hackford-Koran; great-grandchildren, Declan and Isobeau; sisters, Clora Mae Whitehead, Calva Margaret LeBaron, both of Lapoint, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Calvin, Phyllip, Alfonso “Doc”; Selma Christensen; George, Elizabeth, Edvarida, Elmer, Richard, Clifton, Idessa, Verna and Mark.

Graveside services will be on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 1 p.m., at the Tridell Cemetery.
