Hazel Dean Hunt Jensen

Our cherished mother, Hazel Dean Hunt Jensen, age 76, died peacefully the evening of March 22, 2023, in Spanish Fork, Utah, after spending precious hours with family.

Born Nov. 21, 1946, in Roosevelt, Utah, Hazel was the fourth child of George and Mary Dean Hunt Hamblin and dearly beloved father, Remo Kermit Hamblin. An honor student, member of the chorus club and LDS Seminary graduate, Hazel graduated from Union High School with her sweetheart Dennis Karol Jensen.

Hazel believed in soul mates and was sealed eternally to hers, Dennis Jensen, in the Logan Utah Temple on May 13, 1966. He died March 3, 2012. Besides raising three sons of her own, she will also be remembered for welcoming guests, friends, and in-laws. She embraced the discouraged and downhearted. She comforted and loved unconditionally all, especially her children and grandchildren of whom she shamelessly bragged.

Hazel was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has given years of service. She has served in Relief Society, Primary and Young Women’s Presidency’s in her ward and stake. Her final service was as an Ordinance Worker in the Vernal, Utah Temple.

Hazel loved spending time outdoors, gardening, adventuring, hunting, and camping with family. She had a soft spot for animals, especially horses. Her caring and compassionate heart for four-legged creatures meant she often nursed and rescued wounded or abandoned animals including birds, rabbits, prairie dogs and even mice. Hazel was a talented artist who shared and gifted many prize-winning pieces with others. She especially enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister and best friend, Carolyn (Clell) Woodward; brother, Robert (Glenda) Hunt; and her sons, Dennis, Russell (Jana) and Michael (Jill). She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; half siblings, Marie Hunt, Tom, John, and Danny Hunt.

Hazel has gone home to rejoin her parents; her husband; and her older brothers, David (Fontella) Hunt and Don Hunt.

Services were Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Neola Chapel.

Burial in the Cedarview Cemetery.
