February 3, 1937 to March 21, 2023

Ruth Jeanette Hamblin Haslem, of Montwell, Utah, returned to the waiting arms of her sweetheart Myron, her Savior, and her Heavenly Father on March 21, 2023, at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her family and assured of their love and gratitude for all she had done.
Ruth was born on Feb. 3, 1937, in Montwell, Utah, to James Edwin Hamblin and Reita Hunt Hamblin. She married Myron B. Haslem on Jan. 1, 1955, in Montwell. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on Dec. 18, 1976, in the Provo Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died Nov. 30, 2017.
When she was young, Ruth worked as a telephone operator for Uintah Basin Telephone and as activities coordinator at Stewarts Convalescent Center. Her main job, and the one she considered most important, was a mother and grandmother.
Ruth had a happy childhood with her big, loving family on the farm. There she learned frugality, hard work, integrity, self-reliance and sacrifice, and most importantly, the gospel of Jesus Christ from her faithful parents.
Ruth loved fall leaves and the red rock formations of Utah. She and Myron especially loved to watch the sunsets from their farm that was the first homesteaded in Montwell by her grandparents in 1906.
Ruth loved holidays (especially Christmas and the 4th of July), and flowers (particularly the wildflower bouquets that her sweetheart Myron would pick for her on their farm).
Ruth also enjoyed the color baby blue, birds, butterflies, sweets, ice cream, and good books to read. She enjoyed taking pictures of family activities, going on family trips, creating wondrous Christmas’ for her children. A house of order was also important to her.
She was known for her kind heart, humility, gratitude, testimony, loyalty, and service. She lived a good life and returned to God knowing that her work on earth was done.
Ruth and husband, Myron, served numerous missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Nauvoo, Illinois; Birmingham, Alabama; Tuscon, Arizona; and even a stay-at-home proselyting mission in their 70’s. They also served at the Provo and Vernal Temples.
Ruth is survived by her children, Arvin (Sue) Haslem, Montwell; (Tammy Haslem), Roosevelt; Glenn (Susan) Haslem, Calleen (Kevan) Ercanbrack, all of Montwell; JoLyn (Keith) Holladay, Layton; Karen (Ken) Asay, Korinne (Ron) Asay, all of Roosevelt; Brenda (Eric) Antillon, Vernal; and foster son, Dan (Jan) Deans, Vernal; 29 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and six exchange student daughters; her siblings, Delmar (Barbara) Hamblin, Duane (Alice) Hamblin, Alden (Ilene) Hamblin, and Arva (Drew) Jensen.
Ruth was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Myron B. Haslem; her parents, James and Reita Hamblin; her siblings, Ila Larsen, James B. Hamblin, infant brother, Edward Moroni Hamblin, and Reita Lyn Humphries; son-in-law, Chris Todd Olsen; grandson, Anthony Zane Asay; grandson-in-law, Daniel Wilkins; granddaughter, Michelle Ercanbrack; and foster son, Jerry Deans.
Ruth taught us charity, gratitude, loyalty, self-reliance, and to serve as the hands of the Savior. She will truly be missed and remembered.
Services were Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Neola Chapel.
Burial in the Cedarview Cemetery.
