The Ballad of William Earl Hall.
William Earl Hall, age 80, of Roosevelt, Utah, died suddenly at home with his family on April 13, 2023, ending his simple and happy retirement.
Bill was born on Oct. 4, 1942, in Roosevelt, Utah, to David LeRoy Hall and Fawn Josephine Anderton. He graduated from Union High School in 1960, where he met and married Katherine Ann Riding the same year. Kathy and Bill proceeded to build a home in Roosevelt where they raised their three children.
Bill began as apprentice meat cutter for Safeway Stores in 1960 and completed his career with Davis Jubilee as Meat Department Manager, retiring in 2007. This turned out to be the calling of his life – he could work and schmooze with his neighbors and friends at the same time. He created lifelong relationships while working at the store, often speaking of his coworkers and customers as family.
Bill served as Roosevelt City Councilman, on the Planning and Zoning Committee, and also spent several terms as President of Roosevelt Boys Baseball. He was instrumental in the planning and fundraising efforts to build the sports complex at Constitution Park, something he was very proud of. His children thought the ballpark was their summer home.
Bill loved cars, especially old cars. He loved sports, and was an avid watcher of everything from golf to Formula 1. Musicians Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, Charley Pride, Jim Reeves and Eddie Arnold were the soundtrack to his life.
Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Celia Hall Sullivan, Leslie (Richard Conrad) Hall, and Tracy Hall; grandchildren, Lyndsay Brown, Erinn (Cade) McClellan, Taylor Hall, Jennie (Lance Olsen) Cordingley, Carl (Kayloni) Conrad, Alex (Whitney) Hall, Mitchell (Sara) Hall, and Jett Hall; great-grandchildren, Eva, Lucas, Zaylee, Jaclyn, McCoy, Katie, Ellie, Hendrix, Evan, Koy, and Banks.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roby J; father, Roy; mother, Fawn; sister, Joyce Hall Larsen, and brother, Dee Hall.
Bill requested in writing that there be no service or “church stuff”. Instead, a gathering in his honor will be on April 29 at the Hall residence, 461 N. 400 E., Roosevelt, from 11 to 2 p.m. All in the community are welcome to come by and celebrate his life.
Bill wasn’t a flowers guy, so the family suggests donations to the local food pantry or animal shelter. Most importantly, Bill would want you to vote every time, in every election. Thank you for being a friend.
